Agenda

14:15 - Safety development (Dr. Kurt Böhringer, Hitex)

The demands of the safety standards will be explained and in a practical way demonstrated how to reach the safety goals related to the development process.

DrKurt Böhringer is Head of Engineering at Hitex GmbH.

14:45 Using ARM processors in safety applications (Guilherme Marshall, Director of Marketing, ARM)

In his first presentation of the day, Paul explores the increasing role that ARM cores play in functional safety applications, and the features that make ARM cores particularly suitable for this rapidly growing market.

15:30 - Unit testing for safety certification (Frank Büchner, Hitex)

Standards for safety-critical development require (dynamic) unit (or module) testing. This lecture explains what unit testing is and how it can be done for ARM/Cortex microcontrollers using the unit testing tool TESSY in conjunction with MDK-ARM.

Frank Büchner has a degree in IT and has been dealing with the topic of testing and software quality for several years. He shares his knowledge through regular talks and specialist articles. His current position is Principal Engineer Software Quality at Hitex GmbH.

16:45 Writing secure code for TrustZone for ARMv8-M (Paul Black, ARM)

Security is a primary concern for functional safety applications. In this session we explore the ARMv8-M Security Extensions and the role of secure code, and discuss essential compiler functionality when developing trusted code.

Paul Black has a degree in Software Engineering and over 20 years’ involvement with development of complex software products. He joined ARM in 2005 and is currently Senior Product Manager for the ARM Compilers, and has a particular interest in software development for Functional Safety applications.

17:30 Applying ARM C/C++ Compiler to safety functions (Paul Black, ARM)

The compiler is a key part of your software development for functional safety, and working within the compiler certification is critical. In this session we discuss the role that the compiler plays, and explore how to make the best use of a certified compiler in safety development.

Language: This course is presented in English with slides in English.
