Guest Speakers

We're delighted to welcome female leaders active in promoting women founders and passionate about supporting women in business.

Gemma McCall

Gemma is the co-founder and CEO of Culture Shift, a tech for good software development business in Manchester. She carved out her early career as a tenacious and driven business development professional, but more recently found her calling in Culture Shift and began leading her own team of change-makers. As a female tech entrepreneur, she is passionate about using technology to speed up the rate of positive change across the world. Early in 2020 Gemma successfully secured a £1.3 million fundraise for Culture Shift, led by Praetura Ventures and backed by G C Angels.

Her business has already had huge success in the Higher Education sector, with over 25% of the market adopting Culture Shift’s reporting solution, and Gemma is now focussed on expanding into the Insurance, Legal, Banking and Financial Services markets - these are all industries which she believes need to adopt technology to speed up the pace of change and provide safer more inclusive working environments for employees. She's doing this with a team that has tripled in size during the time of the pandemic!

She’s also a respected voice on issues around harassment in places of work and study, often being called on by high profile organisations such as the Equalities and Human Rights Commission to contribute to their reports.

Tracy Lewis

After a successful career in retail with Next, Mothercare and Marks & Spencer, Tracy joined private lingerie business Eveden in 2003, bringing in minority PE backing as CEO in 2006 to support business expansion. She devised and led a highly successful brand and international expansion, culminating in a trade sale to Japanese lingerie giant Wacoal in 2012. Following this success, Tracy’s achievements were acknowledged both nationally and regionally by EY as a recipient of Entrepreneur of the Year awards and by the BVCA as CEO of the year.

The following four years saw Tracy continuing to head up the autonomous Wacoal Europe division, expanding the reach of the UK designed portfolio, launching the brand design of Wacoal lingerie for the western consumer, and becoming a female spokesperson for the business across the East. During this time Tracy also held Non-Executive positions in both the not for profit and PE backed beauty sectors.

Since 2016, Tracy has focused both on developing her cross-sector NED career and investing in and mentoring female led and impact businesses. She is currently Chair of two Palatine Impact Fund investments, Tradeskills4u and Back2Work Group and holds NED roles with ClearlySo, Europe’s leading impact investment bank and Bluebella, the digitally native, high growth lingerie brand. Previously, she held Chair positions with AIM listed Staffline Group Plc, the outsourced workforce and skills provider and ITG, the PE backed, Tech-led Marketing Group.

In addition to her various Board responsibilities, Tracy is a Co-Founder of Loop Cashmere, an online luxury cashmere brand, with sustainability at its core.
