About this event

A one-off workshop looking at core singing technique; breathing, posture and alignment, habitual tension, and how these things all interlink.

The workshop includes:

  • A physical and vocal warm up - to relax and focus, engage with the group and get our voices buzzing
  • Learning a simple song or round that we can use to explore singing technique in practice
  • A look at singing technique fundamentals -breathing, alignment, tension release - working towards efficient effort, flow and ease, and increasing confidence and enjoyment in using our voices
  • There will be opportunities to ask questions, ideas for home practice to continue progress beyond the class, and follow up notes sent after the workshop

Plus meet some local people and experience being in a local choir setting, do something good for you and your wellbeing, learn/develop new skills and have some fun! All in one 2hr workshop.

The workshop is open to all adults who want to develop their singing and technical understanding. Ideal for singers who have little or no formal training and want to support their choir or solo singing, or those who want to gain confidence in order to join a choir etc.

Bring water and anything else you think you might need (eg snacks, clothing layers, a fan, depending on the weather!)

What Eleanor's choir members say:

“A lovely way to loosen up, learn loads and laugh a lot ”

"Choir is something that i do for me and has been a wonderful way to meet new people"

"Highlight of the week - helps relieve the stresses of the daily grind"

"Being part of [choir] is about more than singing. It’s learning different music genres from Mozart, to Sea shanties and everything in between. It’s understanding how to breathe properly, knowing where I hold tension in my body and learning to let it go so I can find my voice and make the most of its possibilities. And it’s learning to really listen to and appreciate the many different voices that combine to make our unique sound. It’s fun, challenging in a good way and it’s being part of a creative, collaborative and supportive community."
