A Masterclass to support your business’ growth ambitions, aimed at established business’, looking for the next step.

About this Event

Together we will discuss all forms of funding with financial industry specialists and business’ who have been through an investment process. This Masterclass will allow you to gain knowledge from the funder and the funded to achieve your business' growth ambitions. Attendees will be able to plan their own business funding requirements for their growth ambitions, and demystify the types of funding and processes involved.

The Masterclass will include:

  • Opportunity to Meet the Funder – A discussion with local Sheffield City Region funding experts, offering their advice and guidance and answering any questions you may have.
  • Presentations from local businesses on their investment and growth journey.
  • The Do's and Don'ts of Preparing for Funding

This Masterclass is aimed at any type of SME with ambitions to grow and scale up, and primarily those who are in a senior position related to Managing Director or Finance Director level. Please ensure the eligibility criteria is met.

About the Speakers:

Pete Sorsby joined Mercia in 2017 and has over 30 years' lending experience. He is an Investment Director for the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund - Mercia Debt Finance, focusing on delivering the Fund into Sheffield City Region.

Sarah Hex joined Mercia in 2018 and has over 20 years' banking experience. As Business Development Manager across the North of England, she is passionate about supporting small and medium-sized businesses and helping them to achieve their growth ambitions and fulfil their potential.

Funding Experts:

Adam Simpson – Commercial Director, Liquidity Club

With over 30 years advisory and cashflow experience assisting SME businesses. Adam has also built businesses himself during his career. With a range of roles including:

- Commercial Director for Liquidity Club, helping SMEs with their funding options and potential funding partners

- Partner leading the Receivables Management team at Mazars, assisting growing SMEs with funding and outsourcing.

- Regional Director for RBS Invoice Finance for Yorkshire and the North East.

- Operations and Risk Director in Leeds at Euro Sales Finance PLC.

Robin Priestley – Export Finance Manager, UKEF

After working in the banking sector for 38 years covering such roles as Senior International Manager, Team Leader Debt Recovery and Foreign Exchange Director for the North of England Robin is now working for the government as Export Finance Manager for UK Export Finance covering Yorkshire and Humber. He has a wealth of knowledge regarding International Finance and Trade Solutions and has supported many businesses in Yorkshire and the Humber to trade overseas.

Lee Hayes – Regional Sales Director, Close Brothers

Lee has worked in Banking and Finance for 32 years in roles including Building Society Branch Manager, Property Funding and Commercial Banking. For the last 10 years he has worked in Invoice Finance, previously the Specialist sector of Contractual Debt and for the last 7 years at Close Brothers Invoice Finance, where he has advised local businesses on how to finance growth.

Eligibility

Only two registrations per business via Eventbrite will be confirmed. If additional people from your business would like to attend, they can be added to a waiting list by emailing growthhub@sheffieldcityregion.org.uk with the business name, name of additional attendee and contact telephone number. If this Masterclass isn’t fully subscribed upon the closure of registrations, we will contact you to offer the additional place. The waiting list will be prioritised on a first come first served basis. Businesses that register more than one attendee via Eventbrite will be contacted and asked to nominate one person to attend.

This masterclass is open to businesses based in the Sheffield City Region. A part of your business must be based in one of the following districts: Barnsley, Bassetlaw, Bolsover, Chesterfield, Derbyshire Dales, Doncaster, North East Derbyshire. Rotherham or Sheffield.
