FUNDING YOUR VENTURE. IS IT REALLY SWIMMING WITH THE SHARKS???

Lecture Theatre HG E5 (ETH Main Building)

A panel discussion with the main stakeholders followed by drinks and canapes!

Learning how to deal with investors is a skill not many ventures master. To make it even more complicated, different stakeholders tend to have different objectives. For instance, a venture capital firm may have a financial objective i.e. multiply its return on the initial investment while a corporate venture capital firm may pursue strategic objectives that may or may not be always aligned with the objectives of the startup. When this misalignment of objectives appears, the startup has to be prepared to swim with sharks…

In this panel you will: (1) Learn about venture capital investments and corporate venturing and their main differences; (2) Learn what it means to be a corporate venture capital manager and a venture capital manager; and (3) Learn how a startups can deal with different types of investors

Guest Speakers are:

  • Ignaas Caryn, Director Corporate Strategy KLM/Airfrance

  • Prof Francesco Di Lorenzo, Copenhagen Business School

  • Anil Sethi, Entrepreneur-in-Residence ETH Zurich
