Apple of My Eye

https://soundcloud.com/apple-of-my-eye

Apple of My Eye’s influences are drawn from English folk and storytelling. With intriguing, lyrically rich songs and multi-part vocal harmonies and traditional folk instruments, the band has won widespread acclaim for their imagination and wit.

Staples of the Bristol & London folk scene and music festivals, Apple of My Eye have released three albums – Devils , Seven Tides and The Beast Below and in 2018 and 2019 released two singles - Xandor and Gone to Ground - off their upcoming album, One For Crow.

“A work of considerable wit and imagination … totally unique, quite unlike anything else you’ll hear this year” — Folk Radio UK

“These are more than songs sung to tunes … there’s an unvarying, symbiotic fusion as vocals and instruments feed off each other to create songs with space and depth.” – Words

Apple of My Eye is Arran Glass (vocals, guitar), Chris Rusbridge (vocals, bouzouki), Kit Massey (vocals, violin), Dan Rusbridge (violin, harmonica) and Phil Cornwell (vocals, double bass).

Mesadorm

“Some of the most interesting music this year” - The Guardian, 2018

"A beautiful record” - Huw Stephens, BBC Radio 1

“I’m absolutely addicted....really affecting and beautiful, I love it” - Lauren Laverne, BBC 6 Music

'Formed in Bristol during 2015 Mesadorm's emotive and skilled melding of the pastoral and synthetic is the result of a unique combination of experienced musicianship, diverse cultural tastes and the strong bonds of friendship, with songwriting firmly aimed at the space between the piercing domestic observations of Suzanne Vega and the elemental other-worldiness of Bjork, drawing on contemporary influences including Caribou, Grizzly Bear and Sylvan Esso as well as legendary female luminaries like Carole King, Joni Mitchell and Kate Bush.

Aside from the emotional heft of Mesadorm's music, the pedigree of its members is also not to be underestimated. Between them, Mesadorm's members have played with Paloma Faith, Goldfrapp, Rae Morris, Frank Turner, The Unthanks, The Magnetic North, toured with London Grammar and fronted major-label signing Vaults as well as singing on John Lewis' 2016 Christmas Ad.' - Adam Brooks

Mesadorm are Blythe Pepino | Aaron Zahl | Daisy Palmer | David Johnston | Jo Silverston. Mesadorm Duo (Blythe & Jo) will be joining us for this event.
