Fundraising for Archives: Friends Groups & Volunteers
Wed 12 July 2017, 10:30 – 15:30 BST
Unlock funding through your Friends Group and volunteers.
'The Friends of Lancashire Archives has supported us for 30 years, with fundraising for document purchase, cataloguing, indexing and outreach projects amounting to around £200,000. In today's economic climate they are our lifeline.' (Jacquie Crosby, Lancashire Archives)
There are examples within the sector of Friends Groups working in partnership with their service to enable the archive to meet it’s aims; using their time, networks and skills to generate a regular income. This session looks at some of these examples and what we can learn from them.
This course will create the environment in which you can step back and consider your current working relationship with your Friends Group and your volunteers. Could you get them fundraising? What would you need to do to enable them to effectively raise money? What support is there to help you do this? These are all questions which will be answered on the day.
This course is aimed at archive employees with the responsibility of managing or developing Friends and volunteers. Please note this course is not open to Friends group members and volunteers themselves.
Refreshments will be provided throughout the day, including lunch.
We are very pleased to be able to offer all attendees a fully-funded place on every Fundraising for Archives course. However, as our events have running costs funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, we ask that you only register for a place if you will be able to attend on the day, and if you do become unable to attend, please give us as much notice as you can, so that we can make the most of all places available. If you need to cancel your place please email us at: email@example.com
