On this course we take a beginners journey into the world of fungi. We will learn about fungi’s role in the ecosystem and get a basic lesson on how to identify them in the field.

We begin the course in the classroom at Tyland Barn learning the basics of fungi. We will look at their role in the ecosystem, some basic family classifications and what features we can use to identify them in the field. There will be some examples fungi in the classroom to look at.

In the afternoon, we will see if we can use our skills to make some very basic identification of fungi in the field.

By the end of the course it is expected that you will have some understanding of fungi’s role in the ecosystem and the basic differences between family groups of fungi. Also what features to look out for when identifying fungi and how get started with identification.
