What is FuSIon Fest?

On 19/20 Oct 2017 FuSIon Fest-The Social Innovation Festival takes place in Northern Ireland over 2 days in 2 cities [19 Oct|Derry~Londonderry and 20 Oct|Belfast]. The festival is brought to you by Social Innovation NI in association with the Building Change Trust, supported by the Department for Communities and managed by Innovate-NI.

This exciting Festival is a unique showcase of international best practise and will highlight and explore innovative solutions to some of the social challenges faced in Northern Ireland communities It will be a celebration of community spirit, collaboration and creativity.

Why should you attend?

By taking part in FuSIon Fest, you will help to promote stronger communities, healthier citizens, an improved quality of life, economic opportunity and healthy recreation by combating silo and traditional thinking. The intention is to have fun, meet interesting people and explore. The Social Innovation Festival brings together those ingredients with an extra dose of inspiring keynotes and hands on break out sessions.

The Festival

Join us in the Playhouse, Derry on 19 Oct and the Crescent Arts Centre, Belfast on 20 Oct to hear from 3 international keynote speakers, participate in a number of themed breakout sessions as well as access to the Social Innovation village featuring practitioners, innovative organisations, and a space to network and learn more about Social Innovation. The festival will finish with an afterparty and the 'headline' keynote on the Belfast Barge on the evening of Friday 20 October.

Themes

FuSIon Fest is focused on overlapping themes which underpin Social Innovation, with a strong focus on collaboration, learning and social impact and value. We’ll be delving into these themes through a range of breakout sessions, as well as having hands on social innovation intro sessions:

  • Tech for Good - how can technology drive social impact? This will focus on the work that Techies in Residence has undertaken over the last 2 years.

  • Social Innovation Policy Environment- explore how Policy can drive Social Innovation and vice versa.

  • Youth Unemployment - a knowledge exchange session to help people to get involved in generating new ideas to address unemployment amongst 16-18 year olds.

  • Corporate Social Innovation- How can companies help society innovate? How can partnerships be developed to help communities?

  • Social Finance- What alternatives exist to grant funding, and how can organisations access this money

  • Health Inequalities- Can Social Innovation be part of the solution where mainstream support is finding difficulties
