Event description

Description

helping with restricted food intake, selectivity and sensory issues

Many children with autism have restrictive diets. This could be where they may only eat one particular texture, or specific food groups or even one particular colour of food. This can be an extremely worrying time for the parent and has the potential for long-term difficulties if not addressed. The workshop will introduce delegates to strategies which they can utilise in their own environment to help increase food acceptance.

The Empower project is a Big Lottery funded initiative through the Reaching Out Supporting Families Programme which support Families across Mid Ulster and Antrim & Newtownabbey Council areas. The focus of the project is to support children under 12 with Autism, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia, their parents and the wider family circle to enhance confidence and learn together to develop skills to support their children.
