Future Currents is the electric guitar ensemble formed by composer/improviser ALEX ROTH with the aim of exploring the full range of the guitar's sonic potential and contributing to a redefinition of the instrument's role in 21st century experimental music. Bringing together some of the UK's most acclaimed improvising guitarists, including members of TROYKA, TRIOVD, and BLUE-EYED HAWK, the ensemble creates new music of extremes – expansive soundscapes informed by composers like Morton Feldman, Frank Zappa, Olivier Messiaen and Richard D James as well as pioneering guitarists like Fred Frith, Robert Fripp, Ben Monder, Marc Ducret and Bill Frisell. The
Guitarist, composer, improviser, producer and interdisciplinary artist Alex Roth is gaining a reputation across the UK as "one of contemporary music’s most innovative and impressive talents" (musicOMH).
