Join us for the listening party of FUTURE ECHOES at The People's Museum of Somers Town between 2-5pm on Saturday 13th September.
FUTURE ECHOES is an audio archiving project by sound artist Eden Alero, commissioned by MIRRORBALL and funded by Arts Council England and Camden Giving.
Eden is an experimental sound artist and composer who explores the radical possibilities of sound as a tool for memory, healing, and future-building. Their work weaves sonic storytelling, textured frequencies, and ancestral echoes to create portals into speculative futures shaped by the worlds in, around, and beyond them.
The project sits alongside MIRRORBALL and Camden People’s Theatre’s production of GRILLS, which explored the history of the Camden Lesbian Centre and Black Lesbian Group (CLCBLG) through its archives at the Glasgow Women’s Library.
During the making of GRILLS, a striking absence emerged — the lack of specific Black Lesbian archival material. FUTURE ECHOES responds to that gap. Through interviews and contributions from Global Majority, Queer, Camden and London locals, the project captures and amplifies personal histories, memories, and lived experiences.
By documenting and preserving these voices, FUTURE ECHOES aims to expand the presence of QTIPOC social histories in Camden and London’s archives — ensuring they are heard, remembered, and celebrated.
Join us two doors down from the original CLCBLG premises from 2pm. There will be refreshments, music and a chance to make new (and old) connections. The audio piece will be played at 2.30, 3.15 and 4pm.
After the event, the project will be hosted on MIRRORBALL’s brand-new website: www.mirrorball.org.uk.
MIRRORBALL are a multidisciplinary company making documentary focused work.
