A day to discuss the future of foot health care practice Brought to you by the European partnership in the Erasmus+ sponsored “Future Feet”

About this event

This one-day event will debate ideas that are shaping future foot health care practice, drawing upon trends in biopsychosocial models of care and digital innovations to evolve your practice and professional knowledge. Places are limited to 200.

Why do you and we need this event?

We need to discuss our futures because of:

• the drive for ever greater evidence-based practice

• a changed digital health care landscape post covid

• the transformational agenda for AHP roles nationally

• trends in disease and health behaviours that impact on foot health.

The changing complex role of the allied health professionals involved in foot health care demands that we critically reflect on the frameworks that underpin practice and consider whether they are fit for purpose. At this event presentations and discussion will focus on the “Value Based Digital Foot Care Framework” for foot care practice, detailed in a recent Journal of Foot and Ankle Research paper

Deschamps, K., Nester, C., Newton, V. et al. The biopsychosocial-digital continuum of foot orthosis practice and research: the VALUATOR model. J Foot Ankle Res 14, 25 (2021)

https://rdcu.be/cNpzX

At the heart of this is greater use of biopsychosocial and person centred models of professional practice, with the additional element of digital transformation of health care, a process accelerated by the covid pandemic.

The day will comprise presentations by leading figures, each followed by a 10 minute panel and audience discussion inclusive of practitioners, academics and researchers.

Throughout the day we will use interactive voting on issues that are raised to co-create evidence of our current professional position and future priorities. You will help define what happens next.
