Event Details

Electric power networks around the world are changing and change comes with its own difficulties. Some of challenges associated with future electricity networks include wider integration of renewable energy sources, transmission of large amounts of power over long distances, increased customer participation, new needs for distribution grid, progress in technology including cyber security and environmental compliance to name a few. These factors suggest two network models for development; large networks for bulk transmission capable of interconnecting load centres and large renewable generation resources including offshore and the emergence of clusters of small largely self-contained distribution networks that include decentralised generation, energy storage and active customer participation operated as an active network.

This event, kindly hosted by ARUP, will feature informative presentations by Keynote speakers and CIGRE members who serve on global Study Committees addressing a vision of our future power networks.  A must attend CPD event and a great networking opportunity!

Contributions include:-

Kamal Siriwardhana (ARUP) : Welcome

Adam Middleton (CIGRE UK Technical Chair) : Introducing the day

Ian Gardner (ARUP) : Keynote - future energy scenarios

Mark Henning (NG): Innovation in the System Operator
