Get a feel for programming by learning Python — a language used in everything from websites to data science. You’ll write small pieces of code and see how they can solve simple problems or automate everyday tasks.
What to expect
By the end of the day, you’ll:
- The fundamental principles of functional programming
- How to use variables, inputs and outputs
- How to run a basic Python script
We'll also be providing light refreshments throughout the day; however, please bring your own lunch.
Who is this for?
Complete beginners aged 18 to 30. You don't need any coding experience, but you need to be confident using a computer, browsing the internet and saving files.
What do I need to bring?
If you have your own laptop, please bring this with you, otherwise, we have a limited number of devices you can borrow on the day (please indicate if this is required on sign up).
Cost
This event is free to attend. We charge a £3 booking fee, which is refunded on attending the event. Or, if you prefer, you can leave it as a donation to MadLab CIC to support future community-led events. Refunds will be processed within seven working days. If you cannot afford a ticket, please email office@madlab.org.uk with your name and postcode, and we will be in touch.
