Join Temi Lawal, PhD Researcher and Teaching Associate as she talks about their brilliant programme: Future Scholars.

The Future Scholars Programme is designed to support the transition to higher education for students from Black or Mixed African or Caribbean backgrounds in Year 13 up until the first term of university. The programme is a Leading Routes initiative and is now in its fifth cohort. Leading Routes is a social enterprise with a mission to prepare the next generation of Black academics. Our work focuses on strengthening the academic pipeline for Black students, from a Black-led perspective. You'll receive support from our team of professionals, academics and students as well as your fellow Future Scholars. Most importantly, we're offering you continued access to an ambitious and encouraging network once you start university! Students will be able to enjoy information, advice and guidance on university choices, practical support with managing finances and budgeting, career support, research and academic skills sessions. Activities will take place both online and in person. Travel reimbursement is available to students outside of London, subject to our travel policy. This is a fantastic opportunity for students who are interested in applying to university and enthusiastic about being part of an enriching community of Black scholars and professionals.

In2scienceUK is a charity that empowers young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to achieve their potential and pursue degrees, apprenticeships and careers in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).

By leveraging the passion and expertise of STEM professionals and researchers, In2scienceUK gives A-Level students an opportunity to gain insight into the STEM sector as well as the knowledge and confidence to progress to university. In addition to running an award-winning summer programme which transitioned to a virtual format in 2020 in response to Covid-19, they run events and workshops throughout the year to provide ongoing support to In2scienceUK students and alumni.
