Event description
Part of the Future Breckland: Thriving People and Places project - workshop to discuss project ideas before developing draft proposals

About this event

Breckland Council has launched “Future Breckland: Thriving People & Places”. This new initiative will create a blueprint for the future of the district, with a focus on each of its five market towns (Dereham, Thetford, Attleborough, Watton and Swaffham) and their unique strengths. The work, which will be shaped by all local partners, will put the district and its towns in a leading position for securing substantial new investment, and help coordinate and join up future activity.

The programme is being delivered as part of Breckland’s Covid-19 recovery plans, seizing the opportunity to define the future of the Breckland economy, as the way we live and work could be significantly altered by the experience of the pandemic. How people relate to their local town, and what they require from it, is a major question being asked nationally – and Breckland is looking to be at the forefront of future thinking.

The project team, led by economics specialists Hatch with urbanists We Made That, will be working closely with local residents, businesses and stakeholders throughout the project to develop Delivery Plans for each town.

To shape these plans, the team will be holding engagement sessions with key stakeholders across the district, public online workshops, and activities in each town to invite residents to highlight the best of their town and areas of focus. We Made That, who will be leading the sessions, have a strong track record of public engagement activities and are committed to ensuring community voices are heard throughout this process.

This event marks the first in a series of public engagement events that focus on Thetford. For information about other events, please have a look at the website here.

This is a public event and all are welcome to attend, although tickets are limited. The purpose of the workshop is to discuss the emerging project proposal ideas, to ensure there is a chance for members of the public, stakeholders and community groups to contribute their thoughts and ideas before full draft proposals are submitted.

Please note by registering for this event and providing your email address, you give your permission for the project team to contact you about this project. The information you provide will be confidential. It will be used only by the project team to contact you in relation to this project.
