As part of UCL's Welcome & Induction Fortnight Future UCL, a team of current PhD students at UCL's new campus on the Olympic Park invite all UCL students to this specially designed walking tour !

The UCL East Environment in and around the Olympic Park in east London has positioned itself at the crossroad between innovation and culture. It highlights the collaboration between engineers, designers, ecologists, anthropologists, and communities, providing a unique atmosphere to live and study.

The walk will explore the architecture and industrial history of the park and highlights some of its key characteristics. Special attention will be given to social and green infrastructures to shed light on sustainable actions. Along the walk, participants will have opportunities to reflect on how their new environment could shape their study and future plans (across the disciplines) and whether or not their current degree is based at the UCL East campus.

The walk will be led by William and Mandy, PhD Students at the Connected Environments Lab part of The Bartlett, CASA, and based at UCL East.

William's research is in digital twins of buildings, and whether they can be used to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.

Dongyi's (Mandy) research focuses on making and building IoT (Internet of Things) sensor systems to measure and communicate Urban Heat Islands and urban microclimates for input into urban policy and climate planning.
