Join The North Face and IFMGA mountain guide Stuart McAleese from Glenmore Lodge to test the new Summit L5 FUTURELIGHT™ jacket and pant on a guided hike around the classic Lake District route of Fairfield Horseshoe whilst supporting local mountain rescue. Pick up useful navigation and mountain travel tips while stretching your legs and enjoying the splendour of this brilliant route. Stuart is your expert resource for the day. What will The North Face provide?

Summit L5 FUTURELIGHT™ Jacket and Pant (available in men’s sizes small to x-large and women’s x-small to large); please state your requirements for both jacket and pant.

Return mini-bus transport from the Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal.

What to wear / bring?

Mountain walking boots

Rucksack

Base layer

Mid layer

Walking trousers/soft shell trousers

Warm layer

Hat and gloves

Spares – gloves and warm layer

Food

Water

Headtorch

Map and compass (optional)

Walking poles (optional)

Where can you leave spare possessions?

Secure storage on site is available whilst you are on the hike.

How fit do I need to be?

You should be able to cope with sustained 3-4hrs of ascent (600m-800m) and up to 3hrs descent, whilst carrying a day pack and comfortable to deal with challenging footpaths and terrain. The route is ideal for those who have some mountain walking experience and would like to develop their skills.

Can I keep the jacket and pants?

Unfortunately not. We will require ID as a deposit whilst you test the jacket and pants.

Photographs

We will be taking photos during the day which will be available free of charge shortly after the hike.

Fee

Places are limited so to ensure everyone who signs up attends and places on this great opportunity don’t go to waste, there is a non-refundable fee of £20 – all of which will be donated to Kendal Mountain Rescue.

Goody bags!

All participants will receive a goody bag from The North Face.

Please note the following:

Participants must be 18 or older. Sorry – no four-legged friends.

The guide has the right to refuse participation on the basis of fitness or inadequate clothing/equipment and to adapt or change route due to weather and safety considerations.
