Following on from the success of the Futures Toolkit, we have commissioned the developers of the Toolkit to give a Futures and Foresight Techniques Learning and Development session for the GSE Profession. The learning outcomes of the session are (after the course you will be able to):

Describe the differences in approach (or ‘world view’) between science and engineering (the scientific approach) and futures
Describe a number of futures and foresight techniques, in particular: horizon scanning, driver analysis, vision development, roadmapping, and time-lining
Describe when a futures and foresight technique might be used (the questions they can be used to help provide insight into)
Analyse how these futures tools might be built into a policy project to better inform policy making
- Explain the steps involved in identifying, scoping, and designing a futures project (for all three offers)
- Evaluate the purpose and benefit of each method
- Describe how they might build on other evidence collection and analysis processes

The day will be interactive and give hands-on experience of several of the techniques in the Futures Toolkit.
