Is there parking?

Yes. Pay & display parking is available at North Beach Car Park (FY8 2TR). The car park accepts cash and card payments.

Question 2

I'm in the car park, but I don't see anyone here.

Please check you are in the right place. Many people confuse North Prom & North Beach car parks. Check you are NOT at North Prom Car Park (which is close to the pier). You should be at North BEACH car park which is off Clifton Drive North & close to the coastguard station & Beachcomber café.

Question 3

What should I wear?

Suitable clothing for walking outdoors in the predicted weather (don't forget your coat and waterproofs if it's going to be wet and your sun cream/hat if it's going to be sunny!) Please wear sturdy footwear (e.g. walking boots) for walking along the dunes and beach.

What should I bring?

Change for the car park and toilets, binoculars (if you have some, if not - don't worry), a drink and snacks.

Are there toilets available?

Accepted Answer

Toilets are located on North Beach Car Park at the start & end location of the walk. Please use the facilities before the walk starts as there will not be opportunity to use the toilet during the walk. The toilets are owned by Danfo & require 40p to access. The toilets accept cash or card payments.

How much are the walks?

The walks are free but we always greatly appreciate a small donation towards the conservation efforts of the Fylde Sand Dunes Project.

What if I've booked on but I can no longer make it?

The success of these guided walks hugely depends on attendance. If you can no longer attend, please cancel your tickets via EventBrite or email apennington@lancswt.org.uk (email address is not monitored at weekends).

How often are the walks?

Our guided walks take place on the first Sunday of every month between March and December. Please join us throughout the seasons as there's always something different to see!

I have attend one of the walks and I have follow-up questions and/or feedback, who do I contact?

How long do the walks last?

Accepted Answer

The walks last approximately 2hrs in a loop from North Beach Car Park. The walk might be slightly less if the weather is poor, or alternatively, if it's a nice day, there's lots to see & people have lots of questions, we might run slightly over. We would recommend putting 3hrs on the car park.

Are the walks suitable for children?

Yes of course! Our guided walks are suitable for all ages. If you would like a Coastal Explorers treasure hunt sheet for the children to complete along the way, please email apennington@lancswt.org.uk (week days only) and we can send you one over.

Question 12

The weather forecast is bad, are you still going ahead with the walk?

Accepted Answer

Generally, we go ahead with 99% of our walks. If the weather forecast is so bad that there is a H&S risk, we will cancel your tickets via EventBrite - please check your email.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of this event (walking up and down sand dunes), this event is not suitable for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility. Please have a look at our other events on www.lancswt.org.uk/events to find more accessible events.
