Event description
Gaelic language CLPL for 1+2 Modern Languages delivery

About this Event

PLEASE NOTE, THESE SESSIONS ARE ONLY OPEN TO ACC EMPLOYEES

Are you focusing on Scotland as a topic this year and would like to include some Gaelic language learning? Or would you like to teach your class Gaelic as part of St. Andrew’s Day Celebrations in November or as part of a wider celebration of European languages? Or perhaps include Gaelic as a regular L3 language with your class?

This 6 week online course will prepare you to teach Gaelic L3 as part of 1+2 Modern Languages. You will learn about the history and background of Gaelic as one of the indigenous languages of Scotland, and you will learn a range of simple Gaelic vocabulary to support children’s learning of the language. The course will also focus on the history of Gaelic place-names in the North East of Scotland and how to make connections between Gaelic language and interdisciplinary learning.

The course will follow the online resource Go! Gaelic https://go-gaelic.scot/ and participants will be supported in their own learning of the language. The course is suitable for complete beginners and will also cover the methodology behind additional language learning.
