Gaelic Week: Ewart Alan Mackintosh

Tuesday 7 November, 6 pm

Ewart Alan Mackintosh is regarded as one of Scotland's finest war poets, and this event celebrates his life and work through poetry, music and song. Born in Brighton of Highland parents, he spoke Gaelic as a child and perfected it as a student. He played the pipes and folk song influenced the songs he wrote, some of which became widely popular with the Scottish troops. Mackintosh died in the second Battle of Cambrai on 21 November 1917.
