Event description

Join us in solidarity & contemplation for the future of our Earth

by Walking, Running or Paddling along the River Thames.

This is an invitation to join a collective vision quest to make a different world possible. The Gaia Spirit Movement opens the Flourishing Diversity Series, where Indigenous representatives from across the world are coming to London, many for the first time, to share their ideas and strategies for addressing climate crisis.

With support from the London National Park City Initiative, who are working to green & rewild London, and in partnership with Extinction Rebellion Youth and ISN, participants are asked to move along the Thames towpath with colourful banners and batons reflecting their wishes for this planet, our only home.

This is a unique opportunity to dialogue with our indigenous guests, each other and those we meet along the way, as we explore ideas for supporting and enhancing the ecosystems on which we depend.

Together we will reflect upon ecological and social justice for all, as we envision a habitable earth for all species. Join us for the opening and closing ceremonies led by our indigenous guests to frame this quest for global flourishing diversity.

Walk, run or paddle downstream along the Thames Footpath as far as you would like and feel free to join/drop off at any point. Journey on your own, in a group or join with others along the route.

Mission Statement

In resonance with the concept that encouraging the flourishing of diversity at every level is the only real way of preparing ourselves to address the great environmental challenges ahead, the Gaia Spirit Movement invites all concerned citizens to join in a demonstration of solidarity with the Earth System, by simply holding Gaia in mind as they move along the Thames, London’s life blood.

Reflecting on environmental and social justice issues that are of concern to them or their community, participants will remind all of the interconnectedness of life on Earth, just as water reminds us of the cycles that nurture life across the globe.

Diaspora communities in London are warmly invited to share issues of concern to them in their countries of origin, to remind all of the importance of thinking globally and acting locally.

Flourishing Diversity is holding this event in collaboration with London National Park City, XR International Solidarity Network and XR Youth.
