Gain recognition for your expertise as a published author
Wed 9 March 2016, 10:00 – 15:00 GMT
A workshop with lunch for aspiring business authors
Nourish mind and body with the information and inspiration to get you started in writing business articles and ultimately a book to raise your profile as an expert in your speciality.
This interactive workshop will help you structure your thoughts and get you writing, even if you plan to start with short articles or blogs. The intention is to meet regularly to help you set deadlines and get supportive feedback as your writing progresses. Learn from each other and develop your skills.
About your hosts:
Karen Hands, author of Networking Know-how and speaking skills trainer, will share her techniques for defining your content, establishing a structure and creating a routine for writing. She'll help you motivate yourself to write and overcome the barriers we all face in making time to think and write.
Dea Parkin, of The Competitive Edge, will discuss the options for self-publishing and more traditional routes. She'll advise you on the editing and reviewing process and we'll use real examples to help you understand the importance of writing clear English.
Stu Rutter, of Stu R Print and Design, will tell you that he "does book work" - but what does this mean for the new author? He'll share with you the publishing revolution that digital printing has enabled, and what this means for the self-published author.
About the venue:
We'll be working in a large private dining room at Mitton Fold Hotel, just outside Whalley near Clitheroe, with a two-course lunch included. Please advise of any dietary restrictions when you book.
