Description

Dr. Ghada Karmi and historian Bernard Regan will pull open the curtains on the manoeuvrings that created and enacted the Balfour Declaration

Dr. Ghada Karmi, of the Exeter University's Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies, was herself a victim of the 1948 Nakba. She has written numerous books on the history of the Palestine struggle, and lately contributed to the republication of JMN Jeffries' rare 1939 work, "Palestine : The Reality."

Bernard Regan, a major figure in both the Palestine Solidarity Campaign and the National Union of Teachers, has just published "The Balfour Declaration" (Verso Books, 2017), a revealing account of life in Palestinian society at the time, paying particular attention to its responses to the imperial machinations that threatened their way of life.
