Event description

Description

Spend an evening learning the theory and practice of creating exciting boardgames and card games, how they work and how to make them..

Over three high-energy hours you’ll discover how games function, why people play them, and what makes a good one. After a thorough overview of the subject you'll work in small teams to concept, design, build, playtest and refine a complete game that you can take home with you. It's all under the watchful eye and guidance of veteran games designer, publisher and critic James Wallis, and it's suitable for beginners and veterans alike.

The Game Design Masterclass has run for ten years at events across three continents, including sold-out sessions at Gen Con and UK Games Expo. Teams who have been through the Masterclass have gone on to set up companies to publish the games they designed. James Wallis (Hogshead Publishing, Once Upon a Time, The Extraordinary Adventures of Baron Munchausen) lectures in game design at London South Bank University, runs the games consultancy Spaaace, and writes a column in Tabletop Gaming magazine.
