About Game Music Connect:
Game Music Connect has been created by multi-award winning game, film and tv composer
James Hannigan and acclaimed game audio director & composer John Broomhall to celebrate and explore the amazing music of video games and the extraordinary talent behind it.
Hannigan and Broomhall first met in the mid-nineties when collaborating on titles for the now legendary publisher/developer MicroProse Software. Their rapport was instantaneous and they quickly discovered a keen shared interest in exploring the art and craft behind making music for games. They have shared stages on numerous occasions in the UK to discuss the aesthetics and practicalities of creating music to picture with such luminaries as Professor Stephen Deutsch, Richard Jacques, Barrington Pheloung, Harry Gregson-Williams and Nick Laviers at events such as the DEVELOP conference, GameCity, the Edinburgh Games Festival, MusicWorks and the BAFTA Games Festival. Game Music Connect is simply the next logical step in their pursuit of celebrating the vibrant world of game scoring, an initiative made possible in no small measure by a dazzling array of industry contacts and personal working relationships forged over many years.
Game Music Connect‘s inaugural event takes place on 9th September 2013 at the Southbank Centre, London, offering a rare, if not unique, opportunity to hear several of the world’s leading games industry composers and audio directors assembled in one place to talk about creating music for games – from both the composer perspective and that of the developers who work with them. So if you’re an amateur, pro or semi-pro composer – from any musical background or industry – this is an event you certainly won’t want to miss!
However – you don’t need to be a composer or industry professional to be a part of Game Music Connect. Fans of soundtracks and, indeed, anyone with an interest in music for the games medium are more than welcome to attend any Game Music Connect event (plans are afoot for further sessions of all kinds – including live music). So why not get involved today and register for the all-day inaugural event on 9th September. Look out for full session details which will be added to the schedule in the coming weeks.
