[ELEVATE:EYE] Games 101 - what you need to know before you get started

This workshop is part of the Elevate:Eye programme at the Bank Arts Centre in Eye this autumn. Anyone 14+ who is curious about making games can explore tools & tricks, build a network, and learn how to use games to express themselves over the course of 5 Saturdays – with the support of games industry experts.

In this first session, you will learn from Katherine Welsford, Growth Manager at Splash Damage.

Together, you will explore:

• What is a game?
• What is the games industry?
• What you should think of before starting to make a game
• Audiences and fans 
• Three out of the four P's of Marketing (Product, Price, Place, and Promotion)
• Future, funding and finishing 
• A preview of what you’ll learn in the other workshops

About Elevate:Eye

Elevate:Eye is five-day, fully-funded games development programme from Game Anglia, supported by the Progress Power Community Benefit Fund and Babergh and Mid Suffolk Council. 

Open to anyone aged 14+ in Eye and nearby parishes (no upper age limit!), ELEVATE:Eye will help you learn how to tell your story by making a narrative interactive game – no coding experience needed! Participants will get hands-on with game engines, storytelling, design and more, plus the opportunity to work together in a final game jam in early December.
