At our free Winchester School of Art Games Design and Creative Computing Summer School, you will be working with analogue and digital games design methods through exploration of narrative games and storytelling.

Throughout you will explore Flat Game creation, learning how games development rules can be set and broken to create interesting narrative experiences. You will learn how to plot out your own game , before creating paper based animated assets, and gathering textures through photography. These gathered assets will then be used in Flatgame Maker, an plugin for Unity, to create simple beginner friendly games following your own chosen narrative.

At the end of the two-day course you will have explored simple storytelling in games, asset development with real world materials, Unity based game creation, and the process of playtesting. These courses are additionally developed with all learners in mind, employing inclusive techniques allowing students who may find school difficult to experiment and explore in a comfortable environment. The work created on this course is prefect for college or university application portfolios, or just as a fun way to explore art and curation methods during the summer holidays! Students do not need any previous experience for this course.

We will also be running a series of other summer courses including Textiles (Sustainable Luxury), Fashion with Fashion Management and Marketing, Graphic Communication, and Fine Art, please see our page for more details.
