Event description

Description

At the Main Hall, Writtle University College, Chelmsford, Essex, on Saturday, 28th September from 2.00 -4.30pm.
Discover centuries of garden history in an afternoon.
This study afternoon provides an interactive review and introduction to garden history. The session begins with a fun hands-on investigation of some garden-related objects. Some you’ll know but might not realise their history or significance, others you definitely won’t, but they should all get you thinking and talking.
This will be followed by a lively illustrated lecture that puts the objects into a broad chronological and social context with ideas of what you can do next.
The afternoon is suitable for everyone, whether an experienced researcher or a complete newcomer to the subject- so why not bring along someone you think might be interested in knowing more? It provides a perfect introduction for our garden history course in the autumn, or as a stand-alone session.

ITINERARY: Please arrive ready for a prompt start at 2.00. There will be a short break at 3.00 for tea.

ACCESSIBILITY: On-site car parking with disabled parking adjacent to the Main Building. The Main Hall is on the ground floor of the main building, no 2 on campus map: https://writtle.ac.uk/pdfs/5/Writtle%20University%20College%20Campus%20Maps.pdf
