About this event

Charity & Causes • Environment

Hurdles are a beautiful and sustainable way to create divisions in the garden, edge paths, keep back the rabbits, support plants or even make the sides of raised beds. While hurdles are traditionally made from willow and hazel, there are lots of other plants that can be incorporated.

On our garden hurdle making course you'll learn how to choose suitable materials, have a go at harvesting willow and weave a small hurdle (or maybe even 2) to take home using willow harvested here on the nature reserve. Please note that weaving is a physical activity, requiring strength in the hands, some mobility and flexibility to work near the ground. Please do get in touch if you'd like to discuss the suitability of the course for you. Hot drinks and biscuits included - but please remember to bring a packed lunch.

Please note the centre is accessible by public transport with regular buses (including connection to Didcot Parkway railway station) serving Milton Park, a few minutes walk from the centre.

We are committed to keeping our visitors, staff and volunteers safe. Please DO NOT attend if you are unwell, or testing positive for an infectious illness, such as COVID-19. Your consideration is hugely appreciated.

Will you help answer nature's SOS call by adding a £5 gift to this booking? You'll help BBOWT bring nature back across our three counties. Please select a donation ticket option if you wish to donate. You can find out more about our Nature Recovery Fund here.
