Hello,
My name is Helen McCormick and I'm a local artist and teacher. I've been creating objects from clay for the past 28 years, and I still absolutely love the process. I am passionate about teaching and have created this workshop to share my skills, knowledge and experience with anyone who would like to have a go for the first time or to develop their skills further.
This workshop offers a relaxed, friendly space where you can connect with others while unleashing your creativity. I’ll guide you through the process of crafting a gargoyle or grotesque sculpture using traditional hand-building techniques. No prior experience is needed—just bring your imagination and a sense of fun!
All materials and equipment will be provided. Tea and Coffee will be available throughout the workshop. The only thing you need to bring is an apron and wear old clothes if possible.
After the workshop, I will carefully take your sculpture home and fire it in my kiln. These sculptures are not glazed as the terracotta will age beautifully in your garden over time. Your sculpture will be ready to collect approximately 6 weeks after the workshop from the Walronds. I will let you know the date and time. Please keep an eye out for the emails or contact me if your email address changes.
NB I am happy to store your work for 6 months after the collection date, after which time it will be donated to charity.
There is FREE parking at the Walronds. The carpark is located at the back of the building. To access the carpark you will need to turn up Tiverton Road off the High Street, and then turn left just before the fire station onto Shortlands Lane. It is a narrow lane and easily missed. Drive a few yards up the lane and you will see the sign for the carpark on the left. Turn left and follow the drive through the gate ahead. Here is a link to Google Maps which should take you right to the carpark entrance. https://goo.gl/maps/JKfioUFi3FCSnCHJ9
