Event description

Description

Garsington Manor is a Jacobean manor house, best known as the home of Philip and Lady Ottoline Morrell, the Bloomsbury socialite and hostess. The 11 acre Italian-style gardens were laid out in 1914 and include a flower parterre with 24 square beds, a loggia, terraces, orchards, water gardens, an ornamental pond and an 18th century dovecote. The garden and outbuildings are currently undergoing renovation but there will be a fine display of spring bulbs on show. Susan Robinson, the owner, will talk to us about the history of the house and garden. The head gardener, Sam Wilson, will be on hand to answer questions. There are gravel paths, steps, steep slopes and uneven surfaces in the garden.
