Gary Moore Tribute Night
Tue 25 April 2017, 19:00 – 23:00 BST
Gary Moore was one of the truly great guitar players, with an instinctive feel for the blues that made him a legend worldwide. More than five years after his passing, Gary's great blues legacy is being carried on by the Gary Moore Band, now fronted by guitarist and singer Billy Merziotis.
This all-star lineup is appearing at Camden's Jazz Café on 25th April 2017, playing songs from Gary's blues period, including tracks from the Still Got The Blues, After Hours and Blues for Greeny albums, together with a few earlier classics: from Parisienne Walkways to Empty Rooms.
Guitar and vocals are courtesy of Billy Merziotis. A life-long admirer of Gary, Billy brings more than simply virtuosity: his playing has a feel and sensitivity that lets you close your eyes and imagine you're hearing Gary himself. That's why the band has put their trust in Billy to carry on Gary's legacy: secure in the knowledge that he can thrill fans with the ultimate performance.
The Band features Graham Walker on drums, who was with Gary throughout the purple patch that gave us the albums and tours for Still Got The Blues, After Hours, Live Blues and Blues For Greeny. John Tampakakis on keyboards, and Alex Stavrakas on bass: two amazing musicians who have been playing alongside Billy for the last 10 years in After Hours Band.
This is set to be an incredible night for both blues fans and our special guest: Gary's beloved sister Patricia Stewart Moore.
Even die-hard fans will come to appreciate that this is not just another tribute show; it is the start of a whole new journey for Gary's music legacy: an authentic experience that proves his legend is very much alive.
