Join us for Holmwood Gather & Gab! We’re excited to launch a brand-new series of relaxed community meet-ups at Holmwood! Join us on the first and third Thursday of each month at 11:30 AM in our overflow café for a friendly chat over coffee.

Each session explores a fascinating topic related to Holmwood House, from the lives of its servants to the influence of Alexander ‘Greek’ Thomson on Glasgow’s architecture. It’s a great opportunity to meet people from your local community while learning more about Holmwood, Thomson’s legacy, and the work of our charity to preserve this Southside gem!

September 18th - Tenements and Villas

Join us for an insightful event exploring the architectural legacy of Alexander “Greek” Thomson and his iconic designs of tenements and villas in Glasgow. Known for blending classical Greek principles with Victorian innovation, Thomson’s work shaped much of the city’s 19th-century character.

This session will delve into his distinctive style, his influence on urban housing, and the enduring beauty of his residential designs—from elegant villas to functional yet striking tenements
