Event description
GCT Jazz Club presents Alice Jazz Quartet, a vocal-led quartet, characterised by thoughtful melodies, snappy inter-play and improvisation.

About this Event

A vocal-led jazz quartet, characterised by thoughtful melodies, snappy inter-play and improvisation. With a choice of repertoire inspired by the greats of the bebop era and the contemporary sounds of artists such as Chick Corea and Norma Winstone. For Alice, being a singer is more than being a story-teller. As well as performing both jazz standards and original tunes, Alice treats her voice like a horn, taking the audience on an energetic and creative journey.

Line Up

Alice Grace - vocals

Mark Williams - guitar

Paul Grainger - double bass

Russ Morgan - drums

“Her singing struck me as note perfect, husky when required and able to summon vibrato where necessary. Oozing style, class and sophistication…she even wrote lyrics for a Chick Corea piece”. (Bebop Spoken Here, The Empty Shop, Durham)

“[Alice has] a way with a lyric that took many angular twists and turns, converting the illogical to the logical…the varied tonal nuances – all the attributes that are the hallmark of a true jazz singer…there in abundance”. (Bebop Spoken Here, Jazz Café, Newcastle)

You can come down and see them in our safe, socially distanced Theatre space by reserving a table for up to 4 people . We ask that you book for a single household or support bubble only. Our staff will serve you drinks to and from your table.
