Event description

Description

Described by the Information Commissioner as “the biggest change to data protection law for a generation”, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) attempts to bring data protection into the digital age. It comes into force across the whole of Europe (including the UK) on 25th May 2018 which means that, if you process personal data, you don’t have long to get your data, systems and policies up to date and compliant. The Data Protection Bill published on 14th September 2017 gives more detail of the reforms including some which go beyond the GDPR.

Join Karen Mason of Novalex Solicitors and Mark Gracey of Flavourfy Digital for a seminar on GDPR and what it means for your business. Karen and Mark worked closely with the Information Commissioner’s Office and the Association Of Chief Police Officers in the late ‘90s when the last major change to data protection was made, putting in place privacy policies and procedures to balance consumer rights against law enforcement requirements at Demon Internet.

This seminar will give you an overview of the changes to this area of law as well as practical advice and guidance on how to comply with the new legislation in time for the May 2018 deadline. You’ll learn about the new consent regime, the new responsibilities for processors and (most importantly) how to work out whether (or not!) you need to make any changes.
