Event description

Description

This event is aimed at campaigning NGOs and charities that want to know more about how to handle issues such as consent.

It will start with a session from the ICO focused on consent issues with further breakouts or discussions on more focused topics afterwards.

Questions will include:

  1. What counts as valid conset? What is “bundled consent” and cannot be allowed under GDPR?
  2. In particular, can a petition signature or donation include consent for further email without a separate opt in
  3. Previous email consents: when does consent need to be renewed, e.g. opt-outs or bundled consent that is not compliant with GDPR
  4. Data exports: what do users need to be able to get
  5. Data deletion: what do organisations need to delete when asked
  6. Profiling: do the rules on profiling apply to NGOs, eg:When do transparency obligations apply? When do the rights for human review apply?
  7. Expiration of active/valid consent – how long is active consent valid for? Does it need to be renewed to prevent it from expiring?
  8. Recording opt in language and recording opt ins – what are your obligations?

The event will include representatives from Engaging Networks who will be available to help clients understand how their platforms can help.

A big thank you to Engaging Networks for sponsoring the event; also to 38 Degrees for contributing to the costs.
