Event description

Description

Information security continues to be a hot topic of discussion for businesses including the almost daily reports of data breaches.

Many small business owners will have pencilled in May 25, 2018 as the date when the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force. But it’s also likely they all have the same question: what does GDPR mean for my business and me?

The simple answer is that it means a lot. Any company, big or small, will have to comply with new regulations regarding the secure collection, storage and usage of personal information. What’s more, violations will be met with fines.

Digital Catapult Centre Yorkshire invites all types of businesses to this breakfast event to discuss all things GDPR and some basics around cyber security.

At the end of the event, each attendee will receive a resource pack, highlighting sources of guidance and advice on topics covered in the session.

There will also be an opportunity at the end to ask the speakers questions and network with attendees.

Topics include:

  • GDPR – An overview and how the regulation will impact businesses

  • Threats and solutions, in particular cyber threats associated with becoming increasingly internet enabled through IoT devices.

  • Risks across supply chain

  • Cybercrime and financial impact

  • Threats and impact on critical business processes
