Event description

Description

Your organisation will be hacked… It is only a matter of time.

When it is, all areas of your business will be affected and the media will ask questions. So how do you respond?

Join us on a half day workshop to help you draft a response plan in the event of a data breach or incident.

  • Every 40 seconds a business in hacked in the UK and the number is rapidly increasing. Remember the negative headlines around Ticket Master, British Airways, Bristol Airport and the NHS? Many small businesses have suffered too.
  • So how do you get hacked? Commonly it will be either someone impersonating you on social media or a member of staff will click on a phishing email or web link.

Hopefully you have invested in staff cyber awareness training, endpoint security and malware to stop the virus or the hacker doing its damage?

However, no matter how good you think your cyber defences or IT security are or how well your staff are trained you will still get hacked.

When you are, your problems will extend way beyond your IT department.

Your entire business will be affected.

  • You may face downtime that will impact on your customer service and sales
  • You may not be able to access your computer or files until fixed
  • You may have suffered a data breach which must be reported

The impact on your bottom line can be dramatic.

Once news of the leak filters through to key stakeholders, including employees, staff and local and national media, there is a further risk of reputational damage and long-term loss of business.

Remember it’s not a case of IF but WHEN - so be prepared.

This workshop will simulate an attack and demonstrate how the problems can easily escalate so you can make realistic plans to minimise your risk and ultimately the loss or damage to your business.

The focus of the training is not on IT solutions but on being business ready on and how you must and can manage the media.

Agenda

  1. What is a data breach and how does this happen?
  2. What is crisis or media training and why you need a crisis management media strategy
  3. Simulation of a breach incident and what happens. What should you do?
  4. How to structure a data breach plan

This course is run by:

  • Andy Stylesis a risk consultant who helps businesses mitigate against risks such as Cyber security or GDPR and;
  • Steve Hemsleyis a journalist and specialist media consultant who helps businesses mitigate reputational risk through the press, tv and social media.
