Event description

Security and data go together hand in hand and are a challenge for any business.

By May 2018 your business will need to be abiding with the upcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Everyone knows GDPR is coming, but no-one knows what required steps businesses need to take.

In this seminar James Pressley of Kirwans Solicitors assesses the GDPR from the point of view of your business, with practical tips about what you need to do to be compliant and how you should implement GDPR.

With over 17 years experience in corporate and commercial work, James brings a wealth of legal expertise in all aspects of company law, buying and selling a business, insolvency matters and advising Shareholders/Partnerships on relevant agreements.

Joining James is Andrew Allen, CEO of Aabyss, influential in IT Management. As a leading authority on business improvement, Andrew is invited to speak nationally and internationally about improving the standards within the technology industry. He shares his views on how to create and apply a commercially aligned technology strategy that not only enhances organisational performance but significantly reduces risk.

Combining his unique challenging style and strategic vision, Andrew works with senior executives and business owners to bring about transformational change.

Andrew will advise delegates about the importance of cyber security.

The latest Government Security Breaches Survey found that:

  • 74% of SMEs reported a security breach in the last year
  • For SMEs, the average cost of the worst breach is between £75,000 and £310,000
  • SMEs are now specifically pinpointed by digital attackers

Discover how your business is at risk and why you are the perfect target for digital attackers. You will leave the workshop knowing how and why you are vulnerable with an action plan ready to implement on the same day. This workshop is aimed at Executives and Directors as it’s their ultimate responsibility, and will be delivered in a non-technical way.

The growth of cyber crime is alarming and has for the first time exceeded all other types of crime. We will perform a live hack to demonstrate just how easy it is. Andrew will provide real-life examples from what we have witnessed not just headline-grabbing breaches. How they failed and what you can do to give your business the greatest chance of survival.
