Are you ready for GDPR?

GDPR - The General Data Protection Regulation comes into force on 25th May 2018 and will impact on most businesses across the EU. GDPR will replace the current Data Protection Act and will be complemented by additional UK legislation currently known as the The Data Protection Bill.

Independent Opticians will be affected by the GDPR and if you have not already taken steps to become compliant now is the time.

Preparing for GDPR

This workshop is being run to give guidance on what independent opticians and optical practices should be doing or implementing for compliance. For some businesses they might need to implement signifcant changes to current processes.

Aims of the workshop

This workshop aims to help you:

  • Understand what GDPR is, and why it's being introduced
  • Understand the differences between GDPR and the current Data Protection Act
  • Leave having started a data mapping exercise
  • Understand what the lawful basis for processing
  • Understand the rights of patients and individuals
  • Understand the implications for employees, suppliers and contractors
  • Understand the accountbility and governance (including fines)

  • See the features and functions in the XEYEX software that aid in compliance

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is specifically aimed at Independent Opticians and Optical Practices and is not suitable for larger groups or other industries or business owners. This workshop is fundamentally aimed at practice owners or senior management that have responsibility for implementing the changes required under GDPR. This is not general training for data protection and is not suitable for employees that are not involved in the implementation of Data Protection regulations. The workshop WILL focus on helping delegates to understand the requirements and what systems and processes may need to change within their business.

Dates/Times

You can choose from several dates in April and May, there is a limited number of places available. We do not have catering facilities but a simple cold buffet lunch will be provided for delegates. Tea/Coffee will be available prior to the workshop and at breaks.

Limits of Workshop

It should be noted that this workshop is intended to guide businesses towards compliance and should not be treated as an exhaustive list of requirements. GDPR regulations are far reaching and as such, this workshop covers broad themes of general practice. The responsibility to ensure compliance remains with the owners and directors of businesses.
