Event description

Description

What is the workshop about?

The new European General Regulation on Data Protection takes effect in May 2018. This practical workshop, being run in conjunction with Reaching People, looks at what the GDPR means for voluntary sector organisations and most importantly, what they must do to comply.

What will it cover?

The workshop will look at what the GDPR does; and how this will affect the way in which organisations collect and process data in relation to their key stakeholders. The main emphasis will be on the steps needed to comply with the GDPR. Attendees are welcome to bring their own policies and drafts for consideration in this respect. The workshop approach will be hands-on and interactive, with plenty of opportunity for questions.

Outcomes

Participants will:

(a) Have improved understanding of the data protection principles.

(b) Be aware of their organisation’s duties, and the steps needed to ensure compliance with data protection law.

(c) Be more confident in applying best practice to data protection.

The trainer

The workshop will be run by David Green, director of Green Pepper Consulting. David has many years of experience dealing with employment relations, employment law and management issues, including in the area of data protection. He is also the trustee lead on data protection for a Leicestershire charity.
