Description

How much do you know about Europe’s biggest overhaul of data protection law for a generation?

You would have had to have been hiding under a rock for the past two years not to have heard about the GDPR (General Data Protection) or at the very least, the value of its penalties. But, how much do you know about how it applies to you and your organisation?

The GDPR is set to enact sweeping changes in the way European businesses and business whom interact with European residents collect, process and store personal data.

In this one-day course, we seek to educate anyone with a basic understanding of personal data processing systems about the incoming regulation. Free of legal jargon, you will complete this course knowing what the GDPR means to you, where to start with your preparations and crucially, how to respond to a breach.

  • Delegates will learn and understand:
  • The history of the GDPRs inception and creation.
  • Who the GDPR applies to, both inside and outside the borders of the EU.
  • Who is accountable and what steps they need to take to prepare.
  • What is personal data and what is classified as special categories of personal data.
  • What defines a data controller and a processor.
  • What is a breach and how to respond.
  • Who is the data protection officer and which types of organisations must appoint one.
  • The price of non-conformance.
  • How to work with European data and international partners.
