Event description

Description

On 25 May 2018, General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) will come into force, affecting organisations in the UK and worldwide that have any dealings with consumers and businesses in EU member states.

GDPR will fundamentally alter the scale, scope and complexity of the way personal information is processed. Most organisations will need to make significant enhancements to their privacy control environment and rethink the way they collect, store, use and disclose personal information. These changes are going to be complex and time consuming.

For communications professionals, it is essential that we understand the implications of GDPR. If we hold personal data – including e-mail addresses on mailing lists – our legal data protection obligations are changing.

Anna Murphy, GDPR Director at KPMG, will introduce us to the core aspects of the new regulations, and lead a discussion on what communications professionals need to consider. We’ll discuss the rights of personal data owners under GDPR, what to do in the event of a security breach, and the “right to be forgotten”.

Please join us for what we hope will be an enjoyable and valuable discussion on this important issue.
