Event description

Description

So, GDPR. The General Data Protection Regulations; the big black cloud looming on the horizon that’s worrying most of us.

Hopefully by now, you’ve started to think about just how this affects your business and marketing activity. The simple answer is across any area where you hold personal data… from Outlook contacts to your CRM.

For a Marketer, this is a daunting prospect. What will happen to your laboriously built databases of leads? How will you manage ongoing compliance? How do you overcome new barriers to sign up conversion? What about bought in data? What are the consequences for lack of compliance?

Presented by leading data protection specialist Dan Sherlock; we look at the legal implications, managing your data processing to ensure compliance and getting your plan in order.

Many Marketing focused GDPR events are charging the earth for a morning listening to the experts. So, we decided to bring the experts to you. But we’re not in this for profit, it’s about educating and helping our local Marketing community. Instead we are asking you for a small (£10) donation to Rix & Kay Solicitors supported charity, the EHE Rare Cancer Charity to attend.

Speaker Profiles:

Dan Sherlock of Rix & Kay Solicitors is a lawyer with a passion for data protection! Practising law since 1998, Dan’s experience extends across the areas of data protection and reputation management. More recently he has been at the forefront of GDPR, advising clients of all sizes on what the new regulations will mean for their businesses.

Nick Bridgen Harlequin CDIS CEO, has many years IT experience covering all aspects of IT, including IT Security. GDPR and IT Security go hand in hand in CDIS’S view, so to step into the arena of GDPR seemed an obvious one.

Nick will outline the key areas of GDPR using basic language that makes sense, simplifying any complications as part of CDIS ongoing series of GDPR talks.

Alternatively, York Road is a public pay and display multi-storey car park (GU1 4DS) just a 7-minute walk away.

Train
Guildford Railway Station is approximately a 20 minute up-hill walk to the venue. London Road Station is a three minute walk away (please note, there is no step-free access to the platform for the return trains towards London).
