Event description

Description

The Start Fund invites you to a hands-on training on GECARR (Good Enough Context Analysis for Rapid Response). GECARR is an inter-agency context analysis tool that quickly creates a snapshot of a changing situation. It produces likely scenarios and actionable recommendations for NGOs. This training will involve simulations and opportunities to practice the tool through group exercises.

GECARR can be used to anticipate crises. In the past, findings from GECARR analyses in Burundi and more recently in Kenya have been used to trigger Start Fund anticipation alerts. The GECARRs were supported by the Start Fund Analysis for Action (AA) Grant (a grant for up to £10,000 which is available for all Start Members to conduct inter-agency analysis ahead of an anticipated crisis).

The Start Fund would like to train up individuals from various Start Members so that they are able to lead GECARRs in the future. For example, if a request for a GECARR comes into the Start Fund from one of our members, two individuals could be seconded to lead the analysis on the ground (generally analyses take 2 weeks). We would like to create a roster of individuals who could be seconded to lead GECARR analyses on the ground.

Participants will walk away from this training with the knowledge needed to run a GECARR in the future. We hope that this tool will continue to be used to support well informed crisis anticipation work through the Start Fund. We ask that those who attend the training are willing to champion the tool within your organisation, and help with initiating requests for the tool, if the need arises.

Lunch will be provided.

Do let us know if you can make it.

The Start Fund Crisis Anticipation Team.
