About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

GEM – the Group for Education in Museums – and VSG – the Visitor Studies Group, have been collaborating on the theme of evaluation. GEM ran two workshops at the VSG Conference on how evaluation and insight colleagues can support museum learning professionals to support effective evaluation. Prior to the session, GEM sent a survey to the GEM museum learning community to gather feedback on their experiences of working with evaluators to help inform the workshop.

This session will bring together the results from the survey with discussions at the workshop to help us co-create a best practice guide for evaluation of museum learning. It will be an opportunity to share challenges and examples of effective evaluation from both perspectives – those running the sessions and those who are evaluating, whether external consultants, embedded insight and evaluation teams, or learning staff who also undertake evaluation. We will then finalise the best practice guide and share with attendees and the wider GEM and VSG communities.

This session is for anyone working in museum learning and/or museum learning evaluation.

Cost: Free for GEM or VSG members. £10 for non members.
