About this event

Gemstone setting practice – silver earrings

This workshop guides you through the process to set cabochon gemstones into a pair of stud earrings. Using pre-made silver stud earrings, you will learn how to set a gemstone (approx. 6mm diameter) into each earring and then polish the setting.

This workshop is designed for you to learn about setting cabochon stones and, as we use pre-made settings, does not cover making the silver setting. The workshop is designed to be suitable for beginners as well as for those who have previous experience of jewellery making. The project is ideal for you to practice at home after the workshop, guidance will be given throughout the session on the tools and equipment you would need.

You can choose whether to make your earrings with either a red/pink synthetic ruby stone or a purple/blue cubic zirconia Tanzanite stone, you will need to make this choice when you book the workshop.

The gemstones used will be similar to the ones used in the Asymmetrical Stone Set Ring and the Silver Pendant – Cabochon Stone Setting Practice workshops, this workshop gives you the opportunity to make a matching pair of earrings if you have already attended one of the other workshops.

Cost: £60 per person - includes materials and equipment use.

Skill Level: Suitable for beginners.

The Craft House was established in 2016 in Saltaire by April Chamberlain, who continues to manage the business. Having started in Saltaire, The Craft House is now run from new, larger, premises at 109-111 Main Street, Bingley. We have a lovely ground floor cafe and welcoming workshop spaces on the first floor (reached by stairs with two handrails). We offer a vibrant programme of art, craft and textile workshops and courses for adults, enabling you to develop existing skills as well as try new activities. Working closely with a team of talented artist/maker tutors, we provide expertly-run classes in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. We cater for a range of skill levels, from first-time participants to people with existing skills (including other professional artists and makers looking to develop their techniques). Our emphasis is on encouraging creativity and enjoyment whilst passing on key skills. We also cater for private parties and events - please telephone us or call into the cafe to discuss. Please note that all our events are subject to us achieving minimum booking requirements, as we need to ensure they are commercially viable for our tutors - if we have to cancel an event, we will refund your ticket and give you as much notice as possible.
